Tyron, 26, on the other hand was 13th at a qualifier in Brooksville, Fla tying with another contestant. When he was 17 in 2002 he earned the PGA Tour card by successfully passing through all stages of the qualifying tournament but was unable to maintain it. He has since not returned to the PGA Tour, but going around playing other mini tours in the last couple of years.

Both Compton and Tryon qualified for the U.S Open in June. Tryon finished 80th position tying with another contestant and Compton missed the cut. The competition at Pebble Beach was Tryon’s first appearance at the PGA Tour since 2003.

Doug Barron who has served his one year suspension for failing a drug test ended recently did not make it past the second-stage qualifier close to Houston.
