The Players Championship will take place May 12-15 and although Tiger Woods is doubtful for the tournament the field is shaping up. Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk, Sergio Garcia, Luke Donald and Martin Kaymer are among the golfers already signed up to play.

In online sportsbook, get Golf Betting Odds for this big tournament closer to the event.

Among the top stars there will be several up and comers to watch for in this exciting kickoff to the summer months of the PGA Tour. A Jhonattan Vegas rank 13th in the money for the year and already has one win. He is out driving his average PGA competitors this year by nine yards and he is also better than average hitting the greens in regulation.

The best golfer to take a chance on is quickly becoming an elder statesman on the tour. Sergio Garcia is destined for a big win in the near future and the Players Championship is as good of a tournament as any. Garcia’s best finish this year was eighth at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Another veteran to consider in this year’s Players Championship is Luke Donald. Donald is not a big hitter off the tee but he is excellent saving shots and saving bad plays by hitting the greens in regulation after a bad first shot.

Jim Furyk has struggled this year, finishing in the top ten twice and earning five top 25 finishes. He is a smart golfer who is not a big banger on his first shot but he is deadly accurate off the tee. Furyk is also good for rising to the occasion during an important tournament.

The Heritage tees off next week with a healthy list of PGA Tour regulars looking to get back in the swing of things in the wake of The Masters. Returning champ Jim Furyk leads a field of golfers with extensive history at The Heritage.

Furyk is at 16-1 Odds while Luke Donald is the favorite at 10-1 in Golf Betting.

Boo Weekley is the most recent two-time winner of the event. Weekley won in back to back years in 2007 and 2008. The event has a notable group of past winners including Arnold Palmer as the inaugural winner in 1969 and Jack Nicklaus in 1975.

The event will take place on one of the nicest courses on the PGA Tour. The Harbor Town Golf Links, located in picturesque Hilton Head, South Carolina, is one of the courses many PGA regulars look forward to returning to every year.

The event is also considered a tune up for the impending Players Championship in May and the million dollar prize for first place is always a major draw for many of the top PGA golfers.

Among the favorites for The Heritage will be Boo Weekley who leads all PGA golfers with an average score of 68.44 over the last 16 rounds of play. Behind Weekley is Ricky Barnes, Angel Cabrera and Kris Blanks with a scoring average of 68.75 over the last years.

Ricky Barnes is the golfer to watch out of this group. Barnes is returning to form slowly but this course could kick start his season. Barnes has fallen below the PGA average for ball striking but he has become adept at scrambling after making mistakes.

The Tour Championship is the culmination of the PGA‘s new playoff format, The FedEx Championship.

Thirty of the world’s best golfers will tee off September 23rd at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia and four days later one of them will be 10 million dollars richer. A familiar name will not be among the 30 golfers. Tiger Woods failed to qualify for the 2010 Tour Championship this year and as the defending champion he will not defend his title. This Championship is a favorite among betting on golf fans.

This leaves Big Lefty as the odds on favorite according to Las Vegas. Although Mickelson is a 7-1 favorite to win The Tour Championship, his arthritis has caught up with him during the grind of the PGA Tour. Mickelson may be on the leader board at the end of the day but he will be out of contention.

The golfers with the best chance to win The Tour Championship are Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk and Adam Scott. Stricker is a golfer that can have four big days on a golf course such as the East Lake Golf Club. Stricker can bomb it on the par fives and he is also a good finesse golfer that makes the most of his putts.

Jim Furyk is just happy to make the top 30 after missing the first tournament of the FedEx Championship after oversleeping. Furyk has the style and fortitude to win a big tournament. Adam Scott is the long shot of the group but he can surprise everyone and take down his first big tournament.

At Pebble Beach, from June 17 to June 20, Jim Furyk will go for his second career US Open championship. Furyk is coming off of a disappointing finish at the Master’s this past April in which he missed the half-way cut and is currently the fifth-ranked golfer in the world and is considered as one of serious contender by sport betting community.

In 1994 at the US Open, came Furyk’s first major tournament. Overall, he finished 28th. After not playing in the US Open the following year, Furyk finished in ties for fifth in both the 1996 and 1997 US Opens. At the 1996 US Open, Furyk’s fifth place finish was his first notable finish in any major.

For PGA betting star, Furyk, the next five US Opens were disappointments. His finishes got progressively worse from 1998 to 2001 and in 2002 he completely missed the half-way cut.

At the 2003 US Open, Furyk’s struggles make his success at the US Open even more interesting. At the Olympic Fields Country Club in Illinois, the tournament took place and Furyk was masterful. He used final round scores of 67, 66, and 67 in the first three rounds to give him a dominant ten under par score going into the final round. He slipped by the standards he had set in the first three rounds and in the final round he shot 72. However, he had established enough distance between him and his competitors that it wasn’t a problem. For his first major championship, his final eight under was good enough.

Furyk repeated as a second-place finisher at the US Open in 2006 and 2007. In order to force a playoff but ended up bogeying, he needed par on the 18th hole in the 2006 Open. He tied with Tiger Woods for second at the 2007 Open at plus six, one stroke behind tournament champion Ángel Cabrera.

Charlotte, NC welcomes the PGA to Quail Hollow coming up this April 29th, and the competition looks to be heating up early. Tiger Woods has recently committed to the tournament, and it will be his fifth time playing the course. He mentioned on his site that it has always been one of his favourite courses. Last year, Tiger Woods finished fourth, just two shots behind Sean O’Hair. In his last four competitions at Quail Hollow, Tiger has secured three top five finishes including a Title, and this year may add to his tally. This year’s competition proves to be another lively event, and Tiger will not be the only news of the day.

The general public is allowed to purchase tickets to this event, and they will not be disappointed. As of now, the competition has three of the top-six ranked players in the world signed up to play. Along with Tiger Woods who is currently ranked #1, Lee Westwood and Jim Furyk, currently #4 and #6 respectively, are also committed to the competition and have been positive betting odds at various sportsbook sites. Since the deadline for committing to this Championship are not until April 23rd, there could be a few other names adding to the excitement that we are currently unaware of, so one can only imagine the other competitors. Whoever signs up will play a great competition.

After the play-off between Jim Furyk and Brian Davis at The Masters, this competition could offer some unexpected excitement when it comes to the 18th Hole.

It may be a little early in the PGA golf season to start thinking about The Masters. The players haven’t even made their way east for the Florida swing yet. I can’t remember a season where there are so many question marks, and many of those revolve around the number 1 player in the world.

Will he or won’t he is the question many are asking. If Tiger Woods plays, and that’s a big if he will be 4-1 odds.

There is a big group right behind Tiger that will go off at 8-1 odds. In this group will be Phil Mickelson, Kenny Perry, and the defending champ Angel Cabrera. Will Cabrera be able to find the magic this year, and can Kenny Perry get back into contention?

Going off at 12-1 odds will be Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk, and Geoff Ogilvy.

Maybe worth a shot at 20-1 odds, you can consider giving Chad Campbell, Stephen Ames, and Paul Casey a look. Longer odds fall with Anthony Kim, Padraig Harrington, and Henrik Stenson.

Still a couple months to go before all the greats tee it up at Augusta. One thing is for sure, everyone will be trying to spot a Tiger. If he isn’t there, it’s anyone’s guess who will be the favorite.
