Steve Stricker

Born in Edgerton, Wisconsin, Steven Charles Stricker is one of the premier golfers in the world.  Better known as Steve, he is known for his putting game as well as his simple stroke.

Stricker graduated from the University of Illinois in 1990 and turned professional that same year as a member of the Canadian Professional Golf Tour.  He won two tournaments with the CPGT.  Stricker has since gone on to win eight times on the PGA Tour, with his most successful season being the 2009 season where he finished second on the money list because of three tournament victories.

After joining the PGA tour in 1994, Stricker started to gain success in 1996 when he won the Kemper Open and the Motorola Western Open, he also had seven other top ten finishes that year that put him 4th on the PGA money list for 1996.  In 2001 Stricker won the WCG-Accenture Match Play Championship taking the $1 Million for his third win.

After several years of poor play in the early 2000’s, Stricker lost his tour card in 2004.  He made a comeback in 2006, finishing top-10 in seven tournaments and received the honors of PGA Tour Comeback Player of the Year taking those honors in both 2006 and 2007.  Later in 2007, he was inducted into the Wisconsin State Association Hall of Fame.

As mentioned, 2009 was Strickers most successful season.  He won 3 PGA Tournament events: The Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, John Deere Classic, and the Deutsche Bank Championship.  He ended up finishing second in the World Golf Rankings.
