Paul Casey
Born July 21, 1977 in Cheltenham, England, Paul Casey is one of the best golfers in the world, playing on both the European Tour and PGA Tour.
Casey started playing golf at a young age and went on to play for Arizona State University. At ASU he became the first man to win 3 consecutive Pac-10 championships beginning in 1998. In 2000 he broke the record set by Tiger Woods for the championship scoring with a 23 under par. During his time at ASU he also won the English Amateur in both 1999 and 2000, and he was a member of Great Britain and Ireland’s Walker Cup team that won in 1999.
In May 2001 Paul Casey joined the European tour and went on to take second in his fifth event and won his eleventh. He won the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year award that year. After a few poor years of play he came back by finishing 6th in his first Masters Tournament. Other notable finishes include a tie for 10 in the 2007 US Open, a tie for 7th in the 2008 Open Championship, and a tie for 15th in the 2008 PGA Championship.
Through his career Casey has won a total of 10 European Tour events and 1 PGA Tour event. In 2009 Casey received an injury to his ribs that severely decreased the amount of play for the latter half of the 2009 season.
In 2007 Casey reached #13 (a career high) on the Official World Golf Rankings. He was the highest ranked Englishman for some time.
