Jim Furyk
James Michael Furyk, known better as Jim, was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania on May 12, 1970. He is one of the premier golfers in the world and is known for his ability to perform consistently at the top level and unconventional golf swing that has a visible loop. This strange swing has been at the center of much conversation and speculation on how he can be so successful with such a strange swing.
Furyk learned the game of golf from his father who was the head golf pro at the Uniontown Country Club. In high school Furyk was not only an exceptional golfer but was also a great basketball player. He went on to the University of Arizona and turned professional at the time of his graduation in 1992.
During his time as a professional golfer Furyk was been ranked in the top ten in the Official World Golf Rankings. He had a career high second place on the money list in 2006.
Key wins in Furyk’s career include a tie for 4th in both the 1998 and 2003 Masters, a first place victory in the 2003 US Open, 4th place finishes in the 1997, 1998, and 2006 Open Championships, and a tie for 6th in the 1997 PGA Championship. As mentioned his only major tournament victory came in 2003 when he won the US Open. In total Jim Furyk has a total of 13 PGA Tour wins.
