Geoff Ogilvy
Geoff Charles Ogilvy was born on June 11, 1977 in Adelaide, South Australia. He is one of the world’s premier golfers.
Ogilvy made the decision to become professional in May 1998 and won his European Tour card at the 1998 Qualifying School. In his first season (1999) with the European tour he finished 65. He improved to 48 in his next season, and went on to join the PGA Tour in 2001.
He gained recognition by finishing in the top 100 in all of his first five seasons. Ogilvy got his first Tour win at the 2005 Chrysler Classic of Tucson and won the 2006 WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship.
The 2006 U.S. Open was his first major championship. He made pars on each of the last 2 holes beating Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk and Colin Montogomerie. After the victory at the US Open he was ranked No. 8 in the Official World Golf Rankings and later that year climbed to No. 7.
Over his career Ogilvy has 7 PGA Tour victories including the US Open Major Championship, 3 World Golf Championships and 3 other PGA Tour Championships. Other important results include a tie for 15th in the 2009 Masters, a tie for 5th in the 2005 Open Championship, and ties for 6th in both the 2005 and 2007 PGA Championships.
Angus Ogilvy, a member of the royal family, is reportedly a distant relative of Geoff Ogilvy. Albert the Bruce is also even more distantly related to the golfer on his fathers side. He currently resides in Scottsdale, Az. where he is a founding owner or MOJO Pies.
