Camilo Villegas
Camilo Villegas was born in Medellin, Columbia. He is a Columbian professional golfer who plays on both the PGA Tour and the European Tour. Villegas started to play golf as a kid and won several Columbian National Junior Championships.
When he was 16 years old he became the first player to win all of the matches in the Amateur’s Grand Slam in the same year. Villegas had a very successful career as an amateur eventually going on to win the Colombian open as an amateur. He was only the second player to do so.
Villegas went on to play golf for the University of Florida where he was given All-American honors for four years, and also became the Southeastern Conference Player of the year in both 2002 and 2004.
After much success at the amateur and collegiate level, Villegas turned professional in 2006. He earned a spot in the 2007 Masters Tournament by finishing in the top 40 of the Official PGA Tour Money List in 2006. Villegas has 3 PGA Tour wins, 2 in FedEx Cup Events (the 2008 BMW Championship, and the 2008 Tour Championship) and the 2010 Honda Classic.
Villegas is the only golf athlete sponsored by Red Bull energy drink, he is also sponsored by the Acushnet Company and plays with their Cobra Equipment.
Golf Digest named Villegas the “sexiest player on tour” in their June 2006 issue. He has gained attention from his good looks and style, often sporting J. Lindberg designs on the course.
