Tiger Woods at the Masters
Eldrick Tont Woods, better known as Tiger is arguably the best golfer of all time. He has had his fare share of time atop the Official World Golf Rankings. Tiger undoubtedly has had success in his profession but has also had his ups and downs, especially at the Masters Tournament.
The 1996 Masters was the first major that Tiger Woods ever won. This Masters would go down in history as a record setting tournament. Tiger won with a record setting score of 18 under par (-18), by a record margin of 12 strokes, became the youngest Masters winner ever, and was the first African American to win and he was then the best bet on sports of Golf being in such a sublime touch. In all, that year he set a total of 20 Masters records as well as tying 6 others.
Tigers 2001 Masters Tournament win was the only time of the modern Grand Slam that any player had held all 4 major championship titles at the same time. This feat earned the name the “Tiger Slam.”
With his win the following year (2002) he became only the 3rd person to have ever won the Masters Tournament back-to-back. During the 2003 and 2004 seasons Tiger opted for several swing adjustments that set him back into a “slump” in major tournaments.
In the 2005 Masters Tournament he broke this “slump” and won the tournament in a playoff. While on the hunt for his 5th Masters Title in 2006, Tiger never had enough steam to defend his title and lost to Phil Mickelson. In the 2007 Masters Tournament Woods made the final group of the last day but was unable to come away with the win. He tied for second behind Zach Johnson.
Tigers Masters troubles continued in 2008 when he struggled with his putting through the tournament and in the 2009 Masters where he finished 6 strokes behind Angel Cabrera.
After a few months off from competitive golf, Tiger is scheduled to return to competition for the 2010 Masters.
